A unique finca with unlimited potential close to the fascinating artists' village of Genalguacil in the stunning Serranía de Ronda/ Valle de Genal area.
7
hectares of mixed woodland and irrigated orchards/ vegetable plots.
The finca has its own plentiful supply of water from its own
spring, which is one of the most prolific in the area. (In this
region, where summer droughts can be prolonged, a good spring is one
of the most important assets any finca can have). The finca has
productive areas of cork, olives and chestnuts as well as some fruit
trees (including almonds, plums, oranges and a couple of avocados).
The property nestles in a beautiful, secluded valley (close to the
river Almachar) which is a haven for wildlife. There are salamanders
living near the spring, a very rich birdlife (it is close to the main
migration routes) and in spring, there are masses of wildflowers. It
is a naturalist's dream.
The
current owners have managed the land according to permaculture
principals and it has never been treated with chemical fertilisers or
insecticides - something increasingly hard to find anywhere in
western Europe. It has enormous potential as an organic
smallholding and is wonderful opportunity for those wanting real
countryside as opposed to landscapes tainted by industrial
agriculture.
There
are three
buildings. The old house, approximately 5 x 10 meters, is stone
built. It is basic and habitable though would benefit from further
restoration. There is also a small wooden house with two bedrooms and
a bathroom, and a brick built workshop (approx 6 x 6m). There is a
solar electricity system.
The
buildings have wood-burning stoves (the finca is self-sufficient in
firewood so no more huge fuel bills ….). There is also a bread
oven. The spring feeds an alberca/plunge pool, perfect for endless
summer afternoons ......
The
finca is reached by a track (4 wheel drive vehicle necessary) which
forks off from the Genalguacil-Benarraba road, (20 minutes from
Genalguacil). Alternatively, there is an ancient vereda
(muletrack)
that climbs to the village (30 miniutes up, 20 minutes down!)
The
finca faces south-west so gets plenty of winter sunshine and,
fortunately, is sheltered from the winter levante winds. It
has beautiful views over towars the mountain ridges north of the
river Genal.
